What is a slip?
It is what your grandmother called a petticoat. And yes they still exist. But not like Grannie’s day. Now, they are made of Microfibre and Lycra, so they are more like a second skin, than a small coat (Petti-coat).
What is the point of them? Well, like a cami, they protect your clothes against…You! All that movement and sweating that you do in an average day – the petticoat is like a protective barrier or a lining. Everything feels better, moves better, and lasts better, with a petticoat. Yes, everything slips, with a slip.
And you can’t see through a thin dress when you wear a slip. The slip is opaque so you can stand in the light or in a photo, with confidence. And if your skirt blows up…you’re covered!
There are options, but the classic is knee length, thin straps, a touch of lace, made of lycra and nylon. But… they can be plain, made of cotton, or silk, long or short, flared or fitted, clingy or loose.
And to cater for all needs, there are Half Slips. Half Slips, basically an underskirt, are gathered at the waist, and like full slips, come in different fabric options, and can very fitted or gathered and flared.
Do the maths: 1 Cami + 1 Half Slip = Full Slip. Either can work to make your outfit smooth and stylish. When choosing separates, the cami/half slip will be flexible with colours and shapes, or under a dress, opt for the quick and easy full slip.
