Learn from a Local 2026

Winter is the perfect time to warm the heart through creativity. Stephanie’s pop up art space in late July is a chance to slow down, create and connect. We are planning a new activity each morning and afternoon during Jazz and Jumpers week (20 – 24 July) including mosaics, jewellery and aromatherapy and more. Beginners welcome at all workshops, but experience won’t hurt, either, if you want to revisit an old skill, or top up a new interest.

Check out our program so far, and get in touch to sign up. Bring a friend for a fun adventure together, or mix it up with our friendly, informal classes where you are sure to find beauty, warmth and new ideas. Phone 4661 9532 or email us as shop@stephanies.net.au to hold you a place.

Mon 20 July

It’s crochet but you wouldn’t know it. Tobey Pullen’s recycled cord projects in attractive neutral shades have a retro vibe. Learn from Tobey as she shows you where to start with making yourself a chunky basket, heavy duty bag or just plain arty cylinder. Start with a base, add some sides, go up and round, and you’re away. This is a demonstration class, but if you are handy with the crochet hook already, bring a skein of heavy duty yarn or cord, and a suitable big hook to work along with Tobey during the class. Non crocheters welcome naturally, to get some inspo.

Learn the creative and satisfying craft of making jewellery with resin. Antoinette will lead you through the methods and tricks of using this medium, and demonstrate the stylish and unique effects possible. You will go home with three fully completed sets of earrings.  Hands on class with all materials supplied.

Tue 21 July

After her hugely popular previous introduction to mosaics course, we have invited Susan to dig deeper this year. Now is the time to actually try your hand at the basics of mosaics: cracking, cutting, shaping, gluing and grouting. Create a 20 x 20cm decorative tile in a 3 hour “crash course”. All materials and tools are supplied, but please bring any tiles/ceramics you may like to incorporate (not all materials may be suitable). Depending on time, grouting may have to be completed at home.

If you like your landscapes refreshing and colourful, this is the class for you. Antoinette Andersen’s eye catching watercolour style keeps her landscapes animated and energetic. Watch her create abstract vistas and detailed gardens with simple shapes and fine line pen. Then get to work on your own A4 sized water colour creation.  Incredible results assured. All materials supplied.

Wed 22 July

Join the clever team from Enchanted Garden Nursery for their garden styling workshop. Cath and Anna are experts in creating eye catching and enticing plantscapes. They will show us how to use illusions and subtle tricks to make inviting spaces. We’ll explore contemporary design ideas and learn how to use outdoor decor, landscape materials, statement plants, and easy care water features to make your garden harmonious, easily maintained and bird friendly! These local ladies know our climate and will also update you on the best new “super natural” products for Southern Downs soils.

Join Aromatherapy Practitioner and wellness advocate Jess Kerle as she gives lifestyle and healthy living guidelines. Jess is an advocate of the daily practice of mind body fitness, and would love you to experience the all round benefits from Yoga, Pilates or Barre classes. We’ll get the mats out and learn some 101 techniques to get you started, and discuss daily routines that lock in everyday fitness habits. Come in your active wear to get the most from this movement class.
